A fascinating piece in the FT looked at this topic and argues that, in the face of the internet boom, the advertising industry suffered a loss of nerve: “An industry that used to compete with Hollywood is starting to wonder if it has become a colonial outpost of Silicon Valley.” The whole piece is worth reading and can be found here via the FT’s Twitter feed.
