For the majority of people, this time of year is about Christmas and the run up to it, which usually consists of office parties, finishing up the loose ends at work and some last-minute shopping.

However, for the majority of students, it also involves a lot of revision for January exams and – for those looking ahead to life after graduation – the dreaded first job hunt! It can be hard to know where to start, but getting ahead of the job market really does take a weight off your mind going into the final semester.

And as it happens, we are looking for graduates to join the Harvard team through our parent company Chime’s Graduate Scheme, which is open for applications until 10 January 2016.

Having gone through this process, and joined Harvard as a graduate 18 months ago, it’s definitely one to apply for. The Chime Group is comprised of 56 agencies worldwide working in communications, advertising, sports marketing and research. Harvard fits into the comms category – a specialist agency working exclusively for clients in the technology space. That enables us to offer the best of both worlds to employees and clients: an agile and flexible “boutique” approach to client servicing with additional expertise from across the Group if it’s required.

Once you start at one of our agencies, you’ll get stuck in straight away. In addition, Chime provides you with support and training throughout your first year and beyond. You’ll also be able to work with around 20 other graduates from across the group on a charity project – this year we are helping Real Action, a charity that helps improve literacy among deprived children in London, to set up a comms function by revamping its messaging, website, PR, social media, etc. The weekend away will teach you what it’s like to come up with a campaign from scratch – we pitched our ideas to multibillion dollar company, Airbus!

So what are our top tips for applying to the Chime grad scheme?

  • Think about the agency you want to apply for. As a specialist agency, we want to see people with a genuine passion for technology and the way it can transform the lives of people at work and play
  • Use your previous work experience and extra-curricular activities to your advantage and be clear about what you can offer to your chosen agency
  • Illustrate your application with relevant examples – they will help to bring it to life
  • Make it personal

If successful, you’ll be invited to Chime’s head office for a short group exercise and one to one interview. So, what are you waiting for? Good luck!
